When the rail is in the correct location save it as a new filename (Stretcher 03). Because I modeled the short rail so it is symmetrical about its X, Y, and Z center-lines I don't have to rotate it. Click the "Apply incremental changes to object placement" to add the check-mark and make it true, and you can see the object move in the 3D window as you change the Translation, Center, and Rotation variables. This opens up the Placement window in the Combo View so you can change the location and orientation of the sketch which in turn relocates all the features in your model to the desired location as well. In the Model Tab of the Combo Window(the one to the left of the 3D window) click on + next to "Pad" to expand it, Right-Click on "Sketch" to high-light it, click on the Data Tab at the bottom, click on "Placement", then click on the little box at the far right of the Placement line. So I looked at the Assembly workbench, tried to make sense of it, but failed. ![]() Creating one of the beams was easy, but there seems to be no way to keep multiple parts in one file. ![]() I kind of expected to be able to recreate this workflow in FreeCAD, but failed. In LibreCAD I was just creating three blocks, one each for a length of beam and one for a threaded bar and insert them into the document as often, as needed. It's going to be raised bed, so rather simple design: 2 different lengths of wooden beams with bore holes, a bunch of threaded bars to keep them together, nothing fancy. Trying to get a hang of FreeCAD (LibreCAD is 2D only, which isn't enough for some of my more ambitious plans), I wanted to recreate a design I already did now in 3D. Total FreeCAD (and mostly CAD) newbie here, so please bear with me, if my question seems stupid, but: how is the intended workflow for creating a design with multiple parts? I've been using LibreCAD so far and made extensive use of the blocks feature, where you basically create a shape/part of a design and reuse it over and over again.
